The 8th Annual NEXUS Global Summit is fast approaching and set to convene July 26th through 28th. Once again, delegates will gather on the The New School campus in New York City to discuss innovative models to philanthropy and impact investing, brainstorm solutions to global issues and come together to accelerate their passion and goals to change the world.
The New School is an ideal partner for NEXUS. Since its inception in 1919, the university has been at the forefront of progressive higher education, supporting individuals in challenging the status quo and advancing positive social change. Many NEXUS members are proud alumni who have called The New School home.
Its commitment to supporting global social entrepreneurship and design-led studies is also very much aligned with NEXUS. As the world’s only design-led university, The New School serves over 10,000 students through more than 150 undergraduate, graduate, and certificate programs in New York City, Paris, and Mumbai.
Recently, The New School launched a university-wide Impact Entrepreneurship Initiative (IEI) to support early-stage entrepreneurial leaders in developing the mindsets, skills, and sense of purpose needed to thrive in our rapidly changing world. Like NEXUS, The New School understands the importance of inclusivity and sustainability and envisions a world that works for all. Through its efforts to catalyze the creation of a more just and healthy economy, The New School is making entrepreneurship education, resources, and networks more accessible to students from diverse backgrounds at different stages of the entrepreneurial journey.
NEXUS is proud to host our Summit at The New School and partner with the university in supporting the many budding impact-driven entrepreneurs at The New School in developing new products, services, and technological approaches to address a range of issues, including pathways to employment for formerly incarcerated young adults, fashion for differently-abled individuals, human rights-focused initiatives for unaccompanied immigrant youth, and STEM education for girls.
The IEI builds on The New School’s rich history of educational innovation, design-based learning, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Related efforts within the university include Parsons ELab and Tishman Environment and Design Center (TEDC), which fosters the integration of bold design, policy, and social justice approaches to environmental issues in an effort to advance just and sustainable outcomes in collaboration with communities.
